Inspiring Female Garden Designers in British History
Ann-Marie Powell features in Gardens Illustrated list.
Astonished and thrilled that Ann-Marie Powell Gardens is included in a list of the most inspiring female gardeners and garden designers in British history assembled by leading UK garden magazine Gardens Illustrated.
It is a huge honour to feature amongst so many of my contemporaries – friends and colleagues all of whom I hugely admire and respect. And to be named amongst my horticultural heroines in British history – Gertrude Jekyll, Vita Sackville-West, Sylvia Crowe and Rosemary Verey to name but a few is especially humbling.
Garden’s Illustrated’s words
“Ann-Marie Powell’s design practice offers a combination of impeccable hard landscaping and colourful and inventive planting. She has also designed a number of high-profile show gardens and has a shelf of medals to prove it. “I really believe, as the landscape architect Thomas Church said, that gardens are for people and as a designer I can open their eyes to a wonderful pleasure that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
