Ann-Marie Powell Gardens returns to the Chelsea Showground

We have been hard at work for the past year and we are thrilled to finally reveal what we’ve been working on.
We are proud to introduce you all to our show garden for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024

The Octavia Hill Garden

by Blue Diamond with the National Trust

Ann-Marie Powell Gardens is excited to announce our participation in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2024. Sponsored by Blue Diamond Garden Centres and the National Trust, the brief was to design a garden that pays tribute to Octavia Hill, the co-founder of the National Trust. We have to thank Blue Diamond for the idea to celebrate this inspiring woman, who believed that green spaces and gardens were essential in everyone’s life and both our sponsors for making this garden a reality. The garden aims to inspire and emphasise the importance of urban communities, and indeed everyone, having access to nature for physical and mental health.

Promoting Gardening for All

Gardens have the power to transform lives and should be accessible to all. This shared belief led to the garden being designed as an urban community wildlife garden.

We want this garden to inspire communities to transform local urban brownfield sites into stunning, biodiverse spaces that benefit both physical and mental well-being.

Visitors can explore different open-air sitting rooms, enjoying various views and atmospheres.

Wheelchair-accessible paths lead to a shaded canopy, observation platform, wildlife pond, or walking stream. The garden encourages intimate connections with plants and wildlife.

Biodiversity and Environmental Responsibility

The decline in the UK’s animal and plant biodiversity is a growing concern. To address this, the garden showcases the importance of biodiversity and upholds the highest environmental standards. Rich planting throughout the garden will provide food sources and habitat for wildlife. The use of reclaimed materials, peat-free plants, environmentally sensitive hard landscaping, and resilient plant choices, demonstrates that great things can be accomplished whilst protecting nature.

Following the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the garden will be relocated to Blue Diamond-owned Bridgemere Show Gardens where it will be open to the public, where it will be accessible to everyone, promoting the joys of gardening and fostering biodiversity.
