Naturalistic, relaxed, and colourful, we cherish the enthusiasm and natural exuberance of the contemporary cottage garden, and are proud to be directly influenced by British cottage gardens and their creators (Gertrude Jekyll, William Robinson and Vita Sackville-West) throughout centuries of British Gardening History.

In every planting scheme we produce, we strive to include plants perfect for pollinators to enrich garden biodiversity, to include bold blooms, kaleidoscopic colour and cottage garden favourites to surprise, delight and bring joy.

Mixing edibles (flowers, herbs and vegetables), scented favourites, cutting garden blooms, amongst herbaceous perennials, trees and shrubs is not unusual, and through 25 years of practice, we are constantly inspired by the wonder, amazements and pleasures of the richly diverse British countryside that surrounds us at our studio in Hampshire.

At AMPG we believe that gardens are contributors to our combined great outdoors and the larger natural world, and we aim to capture the spirit and the diversity of nature in every garden we create.

Contemporary additions include ornamental grasses, bulbs, meadows and annuals to provide movement, vitality and texture to our lively planting schemes. Each of our gardens is designed appropriately to their surrounding environments; their soil types, sun and shade aspects, and of course the garden owners’ aspirations. Every contemporary cottage planting scheme we create is individual and unique.

But even a seemingly wild planting scheme needs a strong element of control. Our years of planting design focus and careful plant selection are key in creating the informal, winning effects for which we are known.

We delight in the nuances of plant and colour associations, in the naturally adventurous colours of mother nature, enrapturing scent and the seasonal delights of the natural world to create life-affirming, contemporary cottage garden planting schemes for you to cherish.
