RURAL REFINED CITY GARDEN

Looking to escape from London’s hustle and bustle, our clients requested a garden that closed the door on the city, and transported them into the great British countryside through the rear floor to ceiling glazed extension door.

Based in West Hampstead, they yearned for a slice of the wild; a rural inspired garden brimming with flower, leaf and wildlife. We were more than happy to oblige, creating charming outdoor rooms, each with their own personality to suit any mood.

A generous, T shaped plot, the garden transformation was not without it’s challenges.

The site sloped dramatically towards the house and was very overlooked. Reclaimed London brick retaining walls and generous steps, housed planting containers for pleached trees to sympathetically shield the garden from view.

Once at the upper garden level a stroll through a mini orchard of apples, plums, pears and figs leads one through to a spectacular rural retreat in town.

Nestled beneath mature trees lies a secluded lawn surrounded by herbaceous borders. A spacious garden building is accessed via large oak timber steps to a deck, embraced by matrix plantings alive with butterflies, bees and other garden wildlife.

A second dining area under a contemporary oak pergola allows for wonderful views, whilst a cosy sofa firepit area nestled amongst the planting is perfect for alfresco entertaining with friends and family.

Irrigation, garden lighting, and maintenance advice and monitoring ensured a turn key relaxation space of rural-refined bliss.
