This South London garden needed to look as good from above as from the ground, so our design focussed on a series of strong interlocking rectangular shapes softened with abundant planting and tranquil water features.

We designed a formal raised pond, with white rendered walls that forms a tranquil, reflective habitat for beautiful aquatic plants including bullrushes and Zantedeschia. To create a calm and relaxing atmosphere soothing sounds are generated by a water blade falling from a rill to the lower pool

The two distinct areas of the garden are linked by decking, with a spacious dining space enclosed by raised beds to the rear. Here the planting includes dramatic, shade loving perennials and ferns, with more colourful accents behind the sunny seating area.

Bamboos have been used to create privacy and add movement with year round screening alongside horizontal trellis panels.

We love to create a sense of journey in our gardens, and here we have carefully selected our materials to emphasise where the levels change. We sourced gorgeous riven slate paving to bring warmth to the feature terrace and emphasise the mellow tones of soft lighting after dark.
